Meet the Team
Bruce
Owner and Manager
Bruce Keenan has always been tied to the ocean. Fishing, diving, and boating in the sounds as a boy, he recalls feeling a sense of pride and purpose when bringing home fresh fish for his family. Following a stint as a shearer and a successful career in agribusiness Bruce, alongside wife Lisa, sought a new challenge — one that would bring the family together and satisfy his appetite for delicious seafood!
Favourite dish: Fresh Chatham Island Blue Cod on the barbeque
Lisa
Owner and Accounts Clerk
Canterbury born and raised, Lisa shares Bruce’s passion for homegrown produce and love of New Zealand’s bountiful coastline. A primary school teacher by training, Lisa was secretly pleased to trade the noisy classroom for the relative quiet of the office. That said, there’s still no time-wasting on her watch!
Favourite dish: Lemon baked snapper fillets
Sammie
Sales and Marketing Executive
Sammie, our marketing and sales extraordinaire, is a first point of contact for Oceans North Seafood. A foodie at heart, and with industry experience, Sammie is devoted to understanding the needs and interests of our diverse customer base. Outside of work she enjoys travel, hiking and cooking — pursuits that nurture new cultural experiences and her taste for adventure.
Favourite dish: Smoked Aoraki Salmon
Jacob
Dispatch Manager
Jacob, Bruce and Lisa’s eldest son, is a man on the go. Formally the company stock manager and packing supervisor, Jacob now manages our cool chain — ensuring every order is delivered fresh from dock-to-door with the utmost care. Like all good logisticians, Jacob is results focussed and dedicated to the task at hand; he’s at the very centre of Ocean North Seafood’s customer success story.
Favourite dish: Scallops wrapped in bacon and barbequed
Henry
Warehouse Manager
Rounding out the family business is Bruce’s nephew Henry — our trusted warehouse manager. Henry keeps fit, ensuring our stock is replenished and that every product meets strict food safety requirements and regulations. When he’s not scheduling product deliveries, you’ll find him filling the bass guitar spot in one of several Christchurch bands.
Favourite dish: “the mighty whitebait fritter!”
